Miami-based J&C Tropicals has upgraded its packing process, said Jessie Capote, executive vice president and co-owner.

“We’ve significantly upgraded our packing capabilities to ensure better handling of the fruit and more capacity,” he said. “We’ve also designed a new and more efficient box.”

Capote recently traveled to the Dominican Republic, where the company is sourcing green-skin avocados to consolidate its year-round program and supplement its Florida supplies, he said.
