Vancouver, British Columbia-based The Oppenheimer Group is “renewing” orchards, said Jon Bailey, sales manager.

“We continue to invest in updating our orchards with young, vigorous trees and to bring on many new varieties over the next few years,” he said.

The company also is adding a top-seal capability to one of its clamshell machines, which allows for 25% less plastic use than traditional clamshells, Bailey said.

“Additionally, our seal will be of the resealable type, so that it can easily be opened and resealed after taking out a few delicious cherries,” he said.

Meanwhile, Oppenheimer grower Orchard View has developed comprehensive best practices for worker safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bailey said.

“They are sharing these documented protocols with smaller growers in the area for the well-being of all,” he said.
