Idaho Falls, Idaho-based grower-shipper Potandon Produce has joined with a grower-shipper in the Vidalia, Ga., onion district to import Peruvian onions, said Mark Breimeister, Detroit-based sales director for Potandon.

“We’ve partnered with our Vidalia (grower-shipper) and are doing a direct import on Peruvian product, as we’re growing the Green Giant presence in sweet onions on a year-round basis and starting to get more penetration every year,” Breimeister said.

He declined to identify the partnering company, although Brieimester noted that Potandon works with three Vidalia growers.
