A new amphitheater in Leamington, Ontario — aka the Tomato Capital of Canada — is named Sunset Stadium, recognizing support from Mastronardi Produce, marketer of the Sunset brand.

Paul Mastronardi, president and CEO of the Kingsville, Ontario-based greenhouse company, represents the fourth generation at the family-owned company.

“Since my great-grandfather first purchased a farm on Oak Street 70 years ago, our roots have been here in Leamington,” Mastronardi said in the release. “This is a way to give back to the community that has given us so much support and has helped us grow into who we are today.”

Over the years, the company has donated millions of pounds of fresh produce to charities in the area, and supported community events for the MS Society of Canada, Autism Ontario and other organizations, according to the release.

Mastronardi Produce events include CAMP-ARI, a camp for local youth, and Sliced Leamington, a cooking competition for youth and adults.

“Mastronardi Produce is a great community leader and we are proud to associate our waterfront jewel with a trusted national brand like Sunset,” Leamington Mayor Hilda MacDonald said in the release. “We look forward to working with the Mastronardi Produce team to continue to enhance entertainment experiences along our waterfront for Leamington residents and visitors alike.”

The outdoor theater is near the shore of Lake Erie in Seacliff Park and hosts concerts, celebrations and other events, according to the release.
