A continuance referendum for the Vidalia onion marketing order will be from Oct. 7-28.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a notice that only growers of Vidalia onions who produced a crop in 2018 can vote in the referendum.

The USDA schedules regular votes to determine if growers want to continue marketing orders. The last for the Vidalia onion marketing order was in 2013.

The USDA will consider terminating the order if less than two-thirds of the producers in the referendum vote in favor of it, or if producers of less than two-thirds of the volume of Vidalia onions voting in the referendum favor continuance of the program.
