The California Avocado Commission, Irvine, is presenting short educational sessions at its virtual Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit booth.

At the Fresh Summit virtual show expo show floor, aka the “Marketplace,” the commission will air videos, conduct product demonstrations and showcase advertising programs. During the official show Oct. 13-15, and extended to Nov. 13, the California Avocado Commission will monitor the platform and mobile app to engage with people who make contact, according to a news release.

“We invite customers and potential customers of California avocados to use the platform and request meetings with commission representatives to discuss next year’s crop as well as the customized programs we can develop,” Jan DeLyser vice president of marketing, said in the release.

DeLyser will give the “California Avocado Industry Update” at 10 a.m. Eastern Oct. 13. At 10 a.m. Eastern Oct. 14, Dave Anderson and Carolyn Becker, retail marketing director for the commission, will discuss “Evolving Opportunities in Avocado Promotions,” using information from avocado sales and promotion data, according to the release.

See bit.ly/CAC-Fresh-Summit-2020 for more information on the presentations.

“While our team will certainly miss the in-person interaction of the conventional Fresh Summit event, we are looking forward to meeting with customers and colleagues and learning from the speakers and general sessions,” DeLyser said in the release.

The commission has supported Fresh Summit for more than four decades, and continues this year, as a platinum sponsor of the #FreshSummit online event. Angela Fraser, commission director of trade affairs, is co-chair of Fresh Summit.
