Georgia-based grower G&R Farms has raised over $50,000 this year for its Growing America’s Farmers program to provide scholarships and grants for Future Farmers of America students nationwide, adding to a seven-year total of nearly $400,000, according to a new release.

Sam’s Club was one of the regional and national retailers supporting the promotion, contributing over $16,000 to the cause in sales, the release said. These funds were generated from a portion of the proceeds from G&R Farms’ Vidalia onions sold at participating retailers during a promotion period, according to the release.

“We are thrilled to have raised over $50,000 this year for FFA students through our GAF program. It’s truly heartwarming to witness the support and commitment of our retail partners who help us achieve our goals and played a significant role in the success of this program,” Blake Dasher, CEO of G&R Farms, said in the release. “These funds will go a long way in empowering the next generation of farmers.”

G&R Farms says it established the Growing America’s Farmers program to invest in the future of agriculture by providing financial support to FFA students, helping them pursue their educational and career goals in production agriculture. This year’s success was made possible through collaboration with 10 regional and national retailers, all of whom joined forces with G&R Farms to support the program and raise awareness of the men and women who grow our food, according to the release.

G&R Farms said the dedication to the initiative is a testament to the agricultural community’s commitment to nurturing young talent and ensuring the future of the farming and ranching industry.
