Fresh Summit: an educational platform for Arctic apples
Okanagan Specialty Fruits Inc., Summerland, British Columbia, used the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit to share the company’s latest developments.
The developer of Arctic apples, which are genetically engineered to inhibit browning, recently wrapped up harvest of the Arctic Golden and Arctic Granny varieties. The apples will be available in select U.S. retail and foodservice operations, according to a news release.
“We always enjoy attending Fresh Summit – it provides excellent networking opportunities, is the ideal platform to share the newest developments for our company, and demonstrates the many opportunities that Arctic apples offer to the produce industry,” Neal Carter, president of Okanagan Specialty Fruits, said in the release.
Cherylynn Hebison won the grand prize giveaway at the booth, an Apple watch.
The company handled out Arctic apple slices, pairing them with ingredients from a “Charcuterie Bar” at the booth.
