Brothers Produce expand Houston Cold Storage

Houston-based Brothers Produce is expanding its Houston Cold Storage division.

The expansion takes the total dedicated storage space to 65,000 square feet of cold storage, according to a news release.

Brent Erenwert, chief innovation officer of Brothers Produce, said in the release that the cold storage division has been growing over the past 24 months, and that trend is expected to continue.

He said many of the company’s storage customers also rely on the distribution network of Brothers Produce and its fleet of over 110 trucks to also transport their products.

“We feel we have positioned ourselves in a very unique way within this market segment” Erenwert said in the release.

With the new expansion, Erenwert said he created a new segment of the storage division that will be dedicated to the restaurant storage and distribution business.

“We are very excited about this new segment and already had several restaurants who have committed storage needs with us before we even took the service live,” he said in the release.

Erenwert said that many of the broadline distributors currently control most of the distribution for restaurants.

While this will not replace that model, it will allow there to be other options for items, Erenwert said in the release.
