James Beard Foundation launches mushroom burger blend contest

The James Beard Foundation launched its third annual Blended Burger Project this month.

Restaurants nationwide can register to take part in JBF's summer competition to blend mushrooms with meat for burgers.

In the Blended Burger Project, restaurants develop their unique version of a blended burger, register by sharing a photo and a description of the burger and promote the burger to encourage consumer votes between May 29- July 31, according to a news release.

The top five chefs will win a trip to the James Beard House in New York City in early 2018 to cook their burgers at a Blended Burger Project event.

Consumers who vote will also be entered in a random drawing for a chance to win a trip for two to the 2018 Blended Burger Project event, according to the news release.
