The Produce Marketing Association has cancelled its annual foodservice show in its traditional format, moving to PMA Foodservice: Delivered, a digital event.

The “innovative and immersive digital experience” is designed to connect the people and ideas the help the foodservice industry on the road to revitalization, according to a PMA notice to exhibitors and attendees who registered for the event in Monterey, Calif.

PMA Foodservice: Delivered events will be July 20-24. PMA will soon provide updates with more details, according to the association.

“We’ve been in constant contact with the industry around the world and it is clear that now, more than ever, our members seek opportunities to make meaningful connections, spur innovative solutions, and share key insights that will help our entire industry move forward, ” PMA CEO Cathy Burns said in a statement.

“We owe it to our members and the industry to do all we can as they revitalize the foodservice industry,” she said in the statement.

“It’s inspiring how the produce industry has innovated and adapted to serve their customers in new ways,” Lauren M. Scott, chief marketing officer, said in a statement. “Everyone in the supply chain has the opportunity to understand the consumer as they have direct impact on their business decisions, now more than ever before.”

PMA’s Center for Growing Talent has launched new events in recent months, allowing it to reach more students in the program and providing networking and development opportunities, executive director Doug Bohr said.

“This week we announced a new virtual Wellness Walk and Run Challenge inviting members to join us in a multi-week event to support their health and wellness and raise funds to support our talent attraction efforts on behalf of the industry,” Bohr said in a statement. “We look forward to sharing our plans for how talent will be a part of the new Foodservice: Delivered event.”
