Lori Taylor, owner and founder of The Produce Moms, was the featured speaker at a recent Dallas Fresh Food Association meeting.

Taylor’s presentation discussed the nearly 30 million U.S. students who rely on free or reduced-price lunches at schools, and are dependent on them to receive balanced meals, according to a news release.

Taylor also stressed the effect that influencers have on the fresh produce industry, and a need to work with them to create lasting increases in consumption in the U.S.

“Lori’s presentation brought to light the reason we are so passionate about donating salad bars to local schools,” Michael Grinstead, board member of the Dallas association “There is a need in our community and it is very rewarding to be part of an organization that seeks to meet that need.”

Part of the Dallas Fresh Food Association’s mission is to ensure access to fresh produce by donating two salad bars a year to schools. In May, the association donated a salad bar to the Faith Family Academy-Oak Cliff.

Taylor donated $100 to the Dallas group’s salad bar fund, according to the release.
