The Top Guac challenge was met.

In celebration of National Avocado Day, Philabundance, The Giant Co. and Avocados From Mexico teamed up for third annual Top Guac Challenge, held at the Philabundance Community Kitchen in Philadelphia, according to a news release.

Contestants had 15 minutes to pit, mash, season and mix their favorite ingredients to win bragging rights for the best guacamole in Philadelphia, the release said.

Kai Reynolds, Philabundance Community Kitchen’s special events catering chef, took home the 2023 Top Guac Challenge trophy, according to the release.

Reynolds was joined by Jessica deRivera, development and engagement manager for Billy Penn at WHYY; Cristina Martinez, owner and chef of South Philly Barbacoa and Casa Mexico; and Crystal Joiner, dietitian for The Giant Co. In addition to the contest, The Giant Co. donated nearly 60,000 fresh avocados to Philabundance, which will be delivered to communities across the Delaware Valley, the release said.
