With strong Mexican fruit volume, Los Angeles-based Giumarra provides a year-round supply of avocados to retail and foodservice clients throughout the U.S. and Canada.

“We offer personalized marketing support to our customers, with a specific focus on promoting bagged avocados containing smaller-sized fruit,” said Gary Caloroso, regional business development director. In terms of packaging, he said QR codes are becoming increasingly prevalent on both avocado packaging and display materials, including bins. “We provide a diverse range of customized avocado bag options for our customers,” Caloroso said,

Mexico holds significant importance for Giumarra, being the sole source that enables a continuous harvest spanning 52 weeks each year, he said.

For the 2023-24 Mexican avocado season, Giumarra expects a marginal volume increase, featuring standard sizing and exceptional fruit quality, Caloroso said.

Giumarra is a leading provider of organic avocados to the U.S. market, in large part because of consistent organic avocado supply from Mexico, Caloroso said.

There is strong optimism for rising consumer future demand for avocados, Caloroso said, driven by the maturing Millennial and Gen Z populations who have integrated this fruit into their daily routines and lifestyle.

“We project increased avocado consumption in regions beyond the western United States,” he said.
