Lancaster, Pa.-based Kegel’s Produce will host an open house on Oct. 17 to celebrate its 70th anniversary in business.

Set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the firm will offer facility tours throughout the day, according to a news release. Vendors will be on hand with displays, samples, product tastings and demonstrations.

Kegel’s Produce began in 1948, when Earl P. Kegel opened an Engleside building and began distributing produce to stands at Lancaster Central Market and grocery stores.

In 1967, the business moved to Lancaster’s Mulberry Street and in 2000, Earl P. Kegel Inc. became Kegel’s Produce, according to the release.

The current Old Tree Drive location, which opened in March of 2004, provides 105,000 square feet of refrigerated warehouse space and is home to the Produce Playground demonstration kitchen, in-house fresh-cut processing rooms, banana ripening rooms and more.

For more information about the 70th anniversary open house, visit the kegels.com or call Dawnne Monka at 717-392-6612, ext. 609.
