New Rochelle, N.Y.-based LGS Specialty Sales will begin sourcing avocados from Jalisco, Mexico, according to a news release.

The USDA authorized U.S. imports from Jalisco in mid-July, the release said, and the company’s direct partnership with suppliers in Jalisco will expand LGS Specialty Sales footprint of avocado production and volume into the U.S., the release said.

“We are happy to be able to satisfy our customers supply needs,” Luke Sears, president and founder of LGS Specialty Sales, said in the release. “This new growing region will allow us to provide premium, high-quality product to all.”

The Jalisco avocado season runs from May to March, the release said, with peak volume starting in August and going through December. The fields that LGS Specialty Sales will be sourcing from are GLOBALG.A.P. and Rainforest Alliance certified, according to the release.
