The Food and Drug Administration said Stutz Packing Co. of Indio, Calif., has recalled its 1-pound packages of shelled walnuts because of a potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

A routine sampling revealed a positive result for the bacteria in the finished products, according to a recall announcement.

The FDA said the walnuts were distributed to food bank warehouses in Texas and Arizona which were distributed to school lunch programs, food banks, shelters or prison food systems.

The 1-pound shelled walnuts have a UPC code of 7 15001 00908 1 and a lot code of 24171 1 or 24172 1. The product comes in clear packaging with a red outlined white box printed in the center.
