Organic volume is growing for Chelan Fresh in SugarBee, Rockit and Cosmic Crisp apple varieties, says Kevin Stennes, organic sales manager for Chelan Fresh, Chelan, Wash.

Chelan Fresh is a large group of first- to fifth-generation growers dedicated to growing quality organic apples and pears, Stennes said.

This year, Chelan Fresh anticipates a 25% increase in organic volume for those premium varieties.

Top organic sellers for the company, he said, are organic SugarBee and organic Rockit apples.

The firm also offers private label packing.

Stennes said he loves the joy and passion behind growing and selling organic produce.

“It’s a lifestyle choice and one we choose because it brings us joy,” he said. “Our new brand, Joyfully Grown, is designed and presented to communicate that to our consumers.”

The company said earlier this year that the new brand will encompass the company’s entire offering of non-proprietary apple varieties, which includes Honeycrisp, granny smith, fuji, Pink Lady and more. Joyfully Grown will also encompass all varieties of pears.
