Organic broccoli, pepper, squash and cucumber supplier Parker Farms is adding new organic growers in North Carolina, said Sean McFadden, in business development at the Oak Grove, Va.-based company.

McFadden said Parker Farms will have good supplies of organic broccoli for Thanksgiving and Christmas demand.

Still, overall organic supply in the fall and winter is running about 25% less than a year ago, he said.

Advertising organic produce and segregating displays can help build retail sales, McFadden said.

The company has a new organic-focused packing house being built in southern Virginia, he said.
