Report: U.S. and Mexico lead list of countries with suspended or revoked organic certifications in 2021

The National Organic Program has published its 2022 annual Organic Oversight and Enforcement Report.

The 17-page report is available on the USDA website, according to a news release.

The National Organic Program develops and enforces standards for organically produced agricultural products sold in the U.S.

The USDA and accredited organic certifiers work together to enforce the standards, according to the release.

The enforcement report includes a summary of investigations and compliance actions, an update on the work of the Organic Agricultural Product Imports Interagency Working Group, and an overview of organic import oversight.

In 2021, the report said there were 626 operations in 47 countries that lost certification through suspension or revocation. about 80% of those were in the 10 countries listed in the table below.
