United Natural Foods recalls fresh basil after Cyclospora test

United Natural Foods Inc. is recalling packages of organic fresh basil from Colombia because it might be contaminated by Cyclospora.

United Natural Foods Inc. is recalling packages of organic fresh basil from Colombia because it might be contaminated by Cyclospora.

The May 11 recall involves Wild Harvest brand fresh basil distributed to grocery stores in Minnesota, according to a notice from United Natural Foods.

The Cyclospora was detected following a routine sampling program.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the basil.

The basil was distributed from the company’s Hopkins, Minn., distribution center to retailers in Minnesota between April 18 and May 8, according to the notice.

The recalled Wild Harvest basil was packed in .25-, .75- 2- and 4-ounce plastic clamshells with Universal Product Codes of:

  • 0071153550450;
  • 0071153550322;
  • 0071153550762; and
  • 0071153550323.

The packages have a white sticker on the back with “Product of Colombia” and “112” in black ink.
