U.S. imports of organic bananas surged 10% in the past year, according to USDA statistics.
Trade data shows that imports of organic bananas from September 2023 through August 2024 totaled $368.3 million, up 10% from the previous year. Bananas beat out blueberries as the top organic produce item imported by the U.S., according to USDA trade data. Organic fresh blueberry imports for the 2023-24 period were pegged at $343.8 million, off 9% from the same period a year ago.

- Bananas — $368.3 million, up 10%.
- Blueberries — $343.8 million, down 9%.
- Raspberries — $225.9 million, no change.
- Strawberries (Sept. 16 to June 14 window) — $219.8 million, up 60%.
- Avocados — $213.8 million, up 39%.
- Cucumbers — $209.5 million, up 59%.
- Kiwifruit — $196.4 million, no change.
- Tomatoes — $186.5 million, down 11%.
- Bell peppers — $119.1 million, up 29%.
- Blackberries — $97.5 million, up 16%.
- Squash — $73.6 million, up 50%.
- Grapes — $63.9 million, up 96%.
- Broccoli — $42.5 million, up 2013%.
- Ginger — $32.9 million, up 46%.
- Watermelon — $32.7 million, no change.
- Bell peppers (other) — $28.7 million, up 3%.
- Potatoes — $28.7 million, up 74%.
- Apples — $24.5 million, down 58%.
- Mangoes — $24.4 million, down 33%.
