Felix Instruments/Applied Food Science has launched its commercial real-time 1-methylcyclopropene analyzer, announcing the move at Fruit Logistica in Berlin.

The company says the new 1-MCP analyzer helps growers:

  • Precisely measure and control the application of 1-MCP, allowing users to fine-tune the ripening process to extend fruit shelf life and reduce waste.
  • Monitor 1-MCP levels in real time to maintain optimal conditions throughout the storage and transport of perishable produce.
  • Reduce the need for trial and error in 1-MCP application with accurate, on-the-spot measurements, saving time and resources in managing postharvest treatments.
  • Provide actionable insights based on precise data, supporting better strategic decisions in crop management and postharvest processes.

“To my knowledge, this will be the first-ever commercially available 1-MCP analyzer,” Scott Trimble, vice president of marketing at Felix Instruments, said in a news release. “We are thrilled to introduce a technology that fills a crucial gap in the market. Our device ensures precise and timely application of 1-MCP, revolutionizing fruit storage practices globally.”
