Technology helps supply chain efficiencies, Hwy Haul leader says
Companies that have best survived the surges in consumer demand in the last couple of years have adopted the power of digitalization in their supply chains, says Syed Aman, co-founder and CEO of technology solutions platform Hwy Haul.
“Digital adoption has picked up pace over the last couple of years and we are seeing (in our industry) that savvy shippers, carriers and drivers are embracing digital tools in their businesses to introduce overall efficiencies and have an edge over their competition,” he said.
The 30% to 40% increase in consumer demand in the last couple of years was coupled with reduced labor shortages because of COVID-19 protocols and restrictions.
In the last mile space, companies such as Door Dash, Instacart and other last mile delivery solutions have turned out to be massive game changers, he said.
In the first- and middle-mile space, Aman said the new digital freight platforms like Hwy Haul continue to grab market share from traditional brokers. He said Hwy Haul provides year-round reliable reefer capacity, real-time location and temperature visibility, and impeccable on-time delivery and on time in full metrics with significantly reduced load rejects.
The traditional freight industry will continue to lean on digital solutions to build a resilient supply chain in order to survive the global supply chain mess.
“Technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning and optimization algorithms will be on the rise and digital adoption will increase significantly,” he said.
