Canada’s Fresh Direct receives ‘best managed’ status again

Fresh Direct Produce Ltd., Vancouver, British Columbia, has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for eight consecutive years.

Fresh Direct Produce Ltd., Vancouver, British Columbia, has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for eight consecutive years.

The fresh produce importer, wholesaler and marketer celebrated its 15th anniversary in the past year, according to a news release.

“We continue to expand our geographic coverage and product offerings to service our loyal customers who are the cornerstone of our success,” Davis Yung, Fresh Direct president and co-founder, said in a news release.

The company is planning to expand services, with the recent partnership of private equity firm Hammond, Kennedy, Whitney & Co., according to the release. Fresh Direct has three distribution centers in Calgary and Vancouver.

The annual recognition is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, Canadian Business Magazine, Queen’s Smith School of Business and the TMX Group.

Recipients of the designation will be honored at a gala in Toronto April 17.
