Organic fresh produce grower-shipper Wholesum’s latest addition to its sales team has extended its family roots.

Carolina Crisantes, daughter of Wholesum co-owner and Chief Operations Officer Theojary Crisantes Jr., is the first of a fourth generation to join the company, according to a news release.

The Amado, Ariz.-based company called the move a “significant milestone in its evolution,” saying that the transition reflects the farm’s commitment to preserving its core values while adapting to the agricultural industry’s changing landscape.

Carolina Crisantes joined Wholesum in early 2024 as an enterprise sales representative focused on elevating sales strategies and customer experiences, the release said. In this role, she is positioned to drive growth in retail accounts and focus on the execution of program plans.

She also brings a longstanding background in produce.

“I grew up going to the farm with my dad and fell in love with it ever since,” she said in the release.

Crisantes graduated from the University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences with a major in nutritional sciences.

“My time at the [University of Arizona] gave me a broad overview of how the food systems work and how it affects the different stakeholders,” she said. “This is especially impactful for my current position, as you cannot see the produce industry in isolation. From farm to table, this industry has such a meaningful influence in all the lives it touches.”

Crisantes’ experience includes a prior sales role at Arizona melon grower Martori Farms.

“We are thrilled to welcome Carolina to our sales team,” Wholesum Sales Manager Kristina Federico said in the release. “Her passion, dedication and fresh perspective will play a crucial role in advancing our vision of providing responsibly grown organic produce to consumers while upholding the values that have defined the family farming operation for generations.”

Wholesum said that by embracing new ideas and talent, it is poised to build upon a legacy and continue delivering produce that nourishes both people and the planet. The company said it has been at the forefront of organic farming for many years, delivering high-quality produce while prioritizing environmental sustainability and social responsibility, earning a reputation for its dedication to ethical farming practices during a history spanning over nine decades.

“I am proud to carry on the tradition of our family farm and look forward to contributing to its ongoing success,” Crisantes said.
