The New Jersey Department of Agriculture has promoted Joe Atchison III to director of its marketing and development division.

Atchison joined the NJ department in 2005 as a marketing specialist, and most recently was coordinator of agricultural development. He has managed the development of creative messaging and marketing plans from the New Jersey Fresh program, which promotes the state’s fruits and vegetables and other agricultural products.

“He has extensive knowledge of the industry and has been an effective leader in the department in many capacities over the years,” New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Douglas Fisher said in a news release.

The department’s division of marketing and development has a critical role in enhancing markets for the state’s produce and other farm products in the U.S. and export markets, according to the release.
