What is the single most urgent shift the produce industry must make today to ensure it remains sustainable and profitable in 2030 and beyond?

“Investing in the next generation of agricultural leaders is critical to securing the future of produce and the agriculture industry as a whole. With young adults facing an abundance of career options, it’s up to us to proactively highlight the significance of our field. By showcasing the diverse opportunities within our companies and celebrating our team and products, we can inspire and attract the next generation of leaders. Building strong partnerships with local schools and universities will also increase our visibility [among students who might not otherwise consider agriculture as a career path].”

A Los Angeles native and Fresno State alumna, Monique Mueller serves as director of communications at Bee Sweet Citrus, where she has worked for the past 11 years.

Holding a bachelor of science degree in agricultural communications, Mueller is passionate about sharing stories that shape the agriculture industry and currently oversees the company’s advertising and public relations efforts, social media platforms, and trade show events.

She is a four-time Boston Marathon qualifier and dedicated adult amateur equestrian.
