San Miguel Produce Inc., Oxnard, Calif., has hired John Killeen as vice president and general manager.

Killeen, most recently at Mastronardi Produce-West, where he was director of business development, has more than 30 years of experience in the industry, according to a news release.

He began his career at Dole Fresh Fruit, on banana and citrus sales, for about 10 years. He then went to Tanimura & Antle, where he focused on the Canadian market. In 2003, he joined New Star Fresh Foods LLC as vice president of marketing and sales. He also worked for Muranaka Farm Inc. and joined Mastronardi’s West Coast location in 2017.

Killeen has a long background in sales, leading successful teams and marketing for a variety of produce items, according to the release.

His West Coast presence will benefit San Miguel’s growth, according to the release, and Killeen has known Jan Berk, chief operating officer, and Roy Nishimori, founder and president of the company, for 11 years.

“Their unique items, innovation and quality have made San Miguel Produce leaders in the cooking greens field,” Killeen said in the release. “The opportunity to be a member of the San Miguel Family and to be a part of their future is extremely exciting.”

Killeen oversees sales and will lead strategic initiatives and business development opportunities, according to the release.
“We are excited for the energy, experience and leadership John will bring to help drive performance and growth throughout the company,” Berk said in the release. “John’s extensive experience in the produce industry will be invaluable in further developing San Miguel Produce’s customer relationships and tailoring strategies for our business.”
