Fresh from the Start’s Maine broccoli harvest is going strong.

The company will be packing broccoli crowns and bunches into October, according to a news release.

Through the season, which starts in July, Fresh from the Start plants about 10 varieties each season on 2,800 acres, Lauren Keenan, category manager, said.

“Warm days and cool nights make Maine an ideal spot for growing broccoli,” Keenan said in the release.

Fresh from the Start ships crown cuts, 40-45 per case, and bunches, in 14- and 18-count cartons.

U.S. Department of Agriculture inspectors check each load at the farm before shipping.

“This involvement results in the highest quality product for our customers,” Keenan said in the release.

Fresh from the Start can deliver to most major markets on the East Coast within 24 hours.

The company also shipping cauliflower through mid-October.
