Jim Allen receives NY ag society accolade

Jim Allen, vice president of marketing for New York Apple Sales and former president of the state’s apple association, has been honored by the New York State Agricultural Society.

Jim Allen, vice president of marketing for New York Apple Sales and former president of the state’s apple association, has been honored by the New York State Agricultural Society.

The society named Allen its 2019 Distinguished Service Citation recipient. Allen, who joined New York Apple Association in 1996 and was its head for 17 years. He was instrumental in uniting growers and finding marketing opportunities, according to the agricultural society.

As the chairman of the U.S. Apple Export Council three times, Allen helped elevate export prospects for New York and other states, according to the society. In 2002, The Packer named Allen the Apple Person of the Year.
