For the 2022 Vidalia onion season, Lyons, Ga.-based LG Herndon Jr. Farms is partnering with the Gary Sinise Foundation, the mission of which is to honor “defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need” by creating and supporting programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen and build communities, according to the foundation.
The partnership involves shipping special co-branded packaging highlighting the foundation’s work twice during the Vidalia onion season. The Memorial Day promotion will run May 16-May 30 and the July 4 promotion is June 20-July 4.
“We had been wanting to do something with veterans and the U.S. military for a while and when we started talking to the folks at the Gary Sinise Foundation, we knew this was the perfect fit for us,” John Williams, LG Herndon Jr. Farms director of sales and marketing, said in a news release. “The work they are doing for our veterans and first responders is incredible, and we are excited to work with such a remarkable organization.”
All consumer bags will be shipped in special co-branded packaging that highlights The Gary Sinise Foundation. The bags will feature a unique QR code that will drive shoppers to a dedicated site in partnership with the foundation, where they can learn more about the many programs that are offered.
Consumers will also have an opportunity through the site to make their own donation to the foundation. Herndon Farms will donate 5% of the gross sales during the campaign — up to $25,000 — to the Gary Sinise Foundation for the benefit of the foundation’s area of greatest need, said the company.
The Gary Sinise Foundation was established under the philanthropic direction of actor Gary Sinise, who has been an advocate of the nation’s defenders for nearly forty years. To learn more, visit www.garysinisefoundation.org.
