Stonehill Produce has a year-round supply of Mexican avocados and offers its customers trusted intelligence on the avocado outlook, says Keith Slattery, CEO of the Capistrano Beach, Calif.-based marketer.

Slattery said the company offers its clients a weekly MarketPulse bulletin and also shares intelligence through its social media posts.

“We import/trade 30 loads per week and work with 12 packers in Mexico,” Slattery said. The company is a “go-to-resource” for retail, wholesalers and foodservice operators, he said.

For the 2023-24 Mexican avocado season, Slattery said volume is expected to be about the same, in large part because of a larger contribution from Jalisco this year. That region is about 94% irrigated, he said.

“However, volume will come in a different size format (small sizes and very promotable) with somewhat different timing resulting in less harvest pressure,” he said.
