RPE specialty potato brand Tasteful Selections has launched a 3-pound mesh pillow pack for its Honey Gold, Ruby Sensation and Sunburst Blend potatoes.

The new packaging creates an elevated retail presentation that’s convenient and helps the consumer see the produce inside, the company said in a news release.

The 3-pound packages hold the No. 2 spot in the baby potato produce category, which is a 14% share of the category, the release said. The company said its 3-pound packages also experienced a 4% growth in pounds year-to-date and a 9% three-year compound annual growth rate.

“We believe that packaging plays a pivotal role in the consumer’s perception of product quality and desirability,” Rachel Atkinson-Leach, vice president of brand and category excellence for RPE, said in the release. “With the introduction of the three-pound mesh pillow pack, we are not only providing quality packaging for potatoes but a statement of style and convenience. It’s a game-changer for retailers and a chance for consumers to really connect with the product.”

The company said it will roll out its 3-pound mesh pillow packs starting March 1.
