The USDA is seeking comment on a draft pest risk assessment for the importation of fresh hass avocado (Persea americana) for consumption from Kenya into the U.S.

The assessment describes potential pests associated with the commodity, according to a news release.

The USDA in the release it is sharing the draft pest risk assessment to determine whether stakeholders have information that might lead the agency to revise the draft assessment before it identifies pest mitigations and proceeds with the commodity import approval process.

The draft pest risk assessment for fresh hass avocado for consumption from Kenya will be available for review and comment until June 29, the release said. To view the assessment or submit comments, visit the official page at aphis.usda.gov.
