California approves new weed herbicide

Contact BioSolutions said the product could be particularly valuable for vineyards in the state.

FireHawk Bioherbicide can now be sold in California following regulatory approval from the Department of Pesticide Regulation, Contact BioSolutions announced May 16.

California residents can now purchase FireHawk concentrate, with the company anticipating approval for the ready-to-use product in the upcoming weeks.

“California sets the standard for sustainable land care, and we’re proud that FireHawk has earned DPR approval,” Frank Glatz, managing director at Contact BioSolutions, said in a news release. “We’re excited to make FireHawk available to homeowners, landscapers and growers across the state who want consistently effective weed control without compromising environmental values.”

Contact BioSolutions said the product eliminates unwanted vegetation quickly, improves soil biology and supports regenerative land practices. The company added that the product could be especially valuable for California vineyards.
