Orlando, Fla.-based Spice World LLC, which offers more than two dozen value-added garlic and ginger products, has added a new item to its product line: value-added onions.

Available in 9-ounce squeeze bottles and 16-ounce jars, Easy Onion enables consumers to add a tasty onion flavor without the hassle — or tears — involved with peeling and cutting onions, said Mike Smith, senior vice president of sales.

“We thought that a value-added-style onion like the like garlic we do in packages would be attractive to consumers because of the convenience,” Smith said.

But developing Easy Onion was no easy task. It took three-and-one-half years to perfect the product, he said.

Spice World is building distribution throughout the U.S. and creating consumer awareness through social media messaging, Smith said.

Six-case display units are available for supermarket produce departments or for displaying elsewhere, such in the meat or fish sections, he said.
