CMI Orchards thrilled by early cherry quality

With cherry harvest underway in the Pacific Northwest, Wenatchee, Wash.-based CMI Orchards is already receiving positive feedback on the quality, sweetness and texture of this season’s early fruit.

Weather cooperated during the growing season for high sugar content and good color, according to a news release.

“This year seems to be better than anyone can remember,” CMI’s vice president of marketing George Harter said in the release. “We’ve had reports from the field and packing facilities that our cherries are the best they’ve seen in years.”

CMI Orchards offers red, rainier and organic cherries along with a range of packaging option and point-of-sale materials to maximize category sales during cherry season, according to the release.

“Any retailer looking to get a jump on sales to kick off the summer months should talk to us about running promotions,” Harter said in the release. “There will be ample opportunity for promotions including the July 4th holiday and through the month of July.

“We’ve had reports from the field and packing facilities that our cherries are the best they’ve seen in years.”

Rainier cherries will be in ample supply for National Rainier Cherry Day on July 11th, according to the release.

“The outstanding eating quality this year will generate those much sought after repeat sales,” Harter said. “We are looking for this to be an amazing year for retailers and consumers.”
