Bailey Farms debuts single-serving line of peppers
It’s not quite “try it before you buy it,” but Bailey Farms Inc.’s new single-serving SideKicks pepper bags allow consumers to sample new flavors easily without committing to buying a large quantity.
Designed purposefully as smaller portions, SideKicks provide just enough product for a recipe of a single dish.
“Life is experienced through food and we’d like to invite customers to learn what makes each chili pepper unique,” Randy Bailey, president of Bailey Farms, said in a release. Packs come in these varieties: mini sweets, jalapeños, red chilis, mixed chilis, serranos, habaneros and Thai chilis.
SideKicks’ value-added packaging design coordinates with Bailey Farms’ redesigned product line, which is color coded and labeled based on the level of heat to differentiate items on the shelf. Each bag also includes usage suggestions and references to find recipes on the Baily Farms website.
The single-serving concept is a gateway to expanding consumer awareness of specialty pepper varieties and driving sales of other specialty pepper products. Scan accuracy at the register is also improved in an effort to capture correct pricing and build the category through more accurate measurement.
Bailey Farms will be at booth No. 762 at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit expo Oct. 19-20.
