Caruso USA has established Caruso Foods, a specialized subsidiary committed to the production of fresh, prepared foods tailored for grocery retailers, convenience stores and industrial food co-packing solutions. The company said in a news release that the strategic move aims to meet the evolving demands of the food industry.

With the assumption of key business operations previously handled by York Street Fresh Foods, a discontinued partnership with New Jersey-based Lorenzo Food Group and Caruso USA, Caruso Foods is seeking to redefine the landscape with its emphasis on quality, innovation and experience drawn from its parent company’s four-decade legacy in assembling fresh, perishable delights, according to teh release.

“Our customers have been struggling with high turnover and a competitive job market for a long time, and they are facing challenges in the production of fresh, prepared food like premium deli sandwiches, salads and party trays,” Jim Caruso, CEO of Caruso USA, said in the release. “Caruso Foods has the hands and expertise to produce and deliver large-scale, made-to-order prepared foods that allows grocers and businesses to stay profitable.”

Caruso USA, known for distributing fresh produce and prepared food items to grocery store chains and businesses nationwide, also offers logistics services throughout the country. With a fleet of over 150 refrigerated trucks and nine depots in the Midwest and Southeast, the company says it specializes in direct store delivery services, offering value-added solutions such as replenishment and merchandising support to retailers.

“The Caruso Foods business is investing in new technologies to support a wide range of fresh food needs,” David Caruso, general manager of Caruso Foods, said in the release. “Our family of businesses is already delivering to more than 900 wholesale and retail locations throughout the United States, and we’re prepared to immediately augment our operations to reach large retailers in new markets. We’re bullish on this business.”
