The Pear Bureau Northwest is asking retailers to show their love of red pears with a display contest.

The Aisle of Red Pears — say it aloud for the message — challenge asks retailers in the U.S. and Canada to dedicate 12-square-feet for a display of red anjous.

“For most shoppers, pears are an impulse purchase, so eye-catching displays are a key strategy in boosting pear sales,” Kevin Moffitt, president and CEO of the pear bureau, said in the release. “The Aisle of Red Pears display challenge is geared to show off one of the beautiful varieties grown in the Northwest, which doesn’t always get the love it deserves.”

Entering is as simple as uploading a photo of the display. All entrants receive $25, and a $500 prize will be randomly awarded for every 50 entries received, for up to 10 $500 winners.

For more information and to submit an entry for the Aisle of Red Pears challenge, see the rules on the Pear Bureau Northwest website.
