The Grinch gets crackin’ with Wonderful Pistachios campaign
He’s as cuddly as a cactus, charming as an eel. He’s a bad banana with a greasy black peel. But at least he has good taste.
Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, the embodiment of a killjoy, is the latest celebrity promoter of Wonderful Pistachios, with in-store bins, Grinch stand-ups in produce departments and commercials in the U.S. and four other countries, all timed with the debut of "The Grinch" movie Nov. 9.
The first commercial is scheduled to air Oct. 29. The second commercial will air “shortly thereafter,” according to a news release, marking the first appearance of the company’s No Shells line on TV. The commercials are scheduled to run in Canada, China, France and Mexico.
“Wonderful Pistachios is the green icon of healthy snacking, so partnering with The Grinch, the green icon of the holidays, is the perfect opportunity to spread green holiday cheer to moviegoers everywhere,” Adam Cooper, vice president of marketing for The Wonderful Co., said in the release.
The campaign also includes an online component, and a Times Square billboard.
The Grinch joins Stephen Colbert, Ernie the Elephant, Miss Piggy, boxer Manny Pacquiao, PSY (of Gangnam Style fame) and others who have promoted Wonderful Pistachios.
