New Jersey’s peach season has officially started.

The state’s fruit is now available at traditional retailers, farmers markets and farmstands as well as you-pick operations, according to a news release from the New Jersey Peach Promotion Council.

Many farmers markets feature Jersey Peach Days with peach tastings, prizes and kids events, in addition to other peachy treats for sale. A Best Peach Pie or cobbler contest will award grand prize-winners in north Jersey and south Jersey $300 each, and winning recipes will be posted on the council’s website, according to the release.

Restaurants throughout the state also plan special peach menu offerings.
