Measure to Improve, Salinas, Calif., has helped six facilities achieve Total Resource Use Efficiency (TRUE) Zero Waste Gold Certification.

To receive the certification, companies must divert at least 90% of total material used at the facility from landfills for 12 consecutive months, according to a news release.

“Achieving Zero Waste Certification, takes dedication, time, and support from everyone within an organization,” Nikki Cossi, founder and CEO of Measure to Improve (MTI).

“A successful Zero Waste program provides an opportunity to save money, stay ahead of or comply with regulatory mandates, demonstrate your organizations environmental commitment, and is a starting point for building a culture around sustainability,” she said in the release.

California Giant is the latest MTI client to earn the certification, this summer. Others are Taylor Farms, with three facilities in California that reached TRUE platinum, the highest level of achievement, and two production facilities at Ippolito International.
