Direct-to-consumer online grocer Misfits Market rescued more than 55 million pounds of food in 2022 alone, according to the company’s annual report.

The 24-page report also highlighted the marketer’s acquisition of Imperfect Foods, announced in September last year.

“Combining forces with Imperfect Foods will exponentially accelerate our ability to address a broken food system and create a formidable — and profitable — online grocer that’s focused on delivering value by fighting food waste,” Abhi Ramesh, CEO and founder of Misfits Market, said in the report. “We’re better together, and our customers will soon see a greater assortment of products and improved delivery options, as well as other exciting updates.”

During a time of consumer inflation, the report said Misfit’s Market has made it easier for consumers to access quality foods at a great value.

Misfits Market introduced more than 3,000 items this year. In the produce category, the report said organic zucchini, organic hass avocados and organic limes were 2022’s bestselling fruits and veggies.

The report said the company expanded to all 48 states in the continental U.S. and shipped boxes to more than 40,000 ZIP codes in the past year.

The company also introduced its own private-label line, Odds & Ends, giving consumers staples like oils, nuts, tomato sauce and other everyday food items to customers at great prices, the report said.

In addition, the company launched Misfits Perks, a loyalty rewards program that offers discounts and free products to loyal customers, the report said.
