Yerington, Nev.-based Peri & Sons Farms has a new gourmet organic line available in biodegradable and recyclable clam boxes.

The options in the line include red, white and yellow pearl onions, shallots, cipollinis and garlic.

“We really promote it during the holiday season, especially during Thanksgiving and into December and into January,” retail sales manager Jessica Peri said at the recent West Coast Produce Expo. “That’s (when) consumers are buying, looking for these types of items the most.”

At the expo, Peri & Sons also showcased its Sweetie Sweet onions, which are available July through December, and its Sunions, which are available January through March.

The company is best known, however, for its Nevada white onions, which are excellent for cooking, Peri said. Those are available September through March.
