Oceanside Pole tomatoes have a new brand this season: “On a Mission, Since 1939.”

The tomatoes, grown by the Singh family in Oceanside, Calif., and marketed by The Oppenheimer Group, are the last true pole-grown tomatoes in the state, Oppenheimer vice president of marketing James Milne said in a news release.

“The tomatoes are picked at the right stage of maturity to naturally develop the perfect color and rich tomato flavor — which definitely gets noticed and applauded,” he said in the release.

The new branding was developed over the past year in discussions with grower Harry Singh and his children, and is designed to show the company’s legacy and commitment to future excellence in all its products, according to the release.

New packaging features a silhouette of Mission San Luis Rey, which previous generations of the Singh family helped build and maintain.

“As a family, we felt it extremely important to develop a brand that honored our deep roots in Oceanside, our heritage and our beliefs, while conveying the intent of our approach,” Priya Singh, Oceanside Pole general manager and fourth-generation grower, said in the release.

The company expects to start its roma and round tomatoes in early July.

Oppy senior sales representative James Galindo will relocate to Oceanside to help Oceanside Pole with retail, wholesale and foodservice business during the summer.
