Vallarta Supermarkets’ newest store location in Carson, Calif., is taking an innovative and customizable approach to value-added fresh fruit with the introduction of La Fruteria, a first-of-its-kind, fresh-fruit bowl destination.

Customers can choose from a menu of fruit including watermelon, cucumber, pineapple, mango, cantaloupe and honeydew. They can also choose from a menu of toppings such as Tajin, Chamoy, lime juice and salt.

“We are excited to open our doors and expand into the South Bay with the community of Carson,” Lizette Gomez, director of marketing at Vallarta Supermarkets, according to a news release. “Our goal has always been to provide a welcoming shopping experience where our customers can find fresh, high-quality products to everyday essentials while celebrating the cultural diversity that makes this community unique.”

Also on the fresh fruit and vegetable front, the new Vallarta store offers fresh produce from local growers as well as those across the U.S. and around the world, including Mexico, Chile, Canada, Peru, Guatemala, New Zealand and more. Latino favorites like mamey, chayote and mango tierno and seasonal favorites can be found at every location, the release said.

Each Vallarta Supermarkets location also features a La Isla juice bar, where customers can order fresh-pressed fruit and vegetable juices. Various aguas frescas are also available in many flavors, like horchata, pineapple, papaya, mamey and Jamaica.

Beyond produce, other fresh departments at the new store include a carnes frescas meat department; pescaderia fish market with an in-house cevicheria; a tortilleria; cremería, Vallarta’s version of a traditional deli; and a panaderia, where customers can find Latin American breads like conchas, puerquitos, mantecadas and bolillos.

Located at 110 E. Carson St. in Carson, the new store opened Nov. 8.

Vallarta Supermarkets is actively involved in various community initiatives, including supporting local schools and charitable organizations in the South Bay, the release said. The company says it looks forward to serving the Carson community and continuing its tradition of offering quality products and exceptional customer service.

Through the Vallarta Go delivery service, customers can also shop from the convenience of their homes and have their groceries delivered to their homes. La Cocina items are available for delivery via DoorDash.

Vallarta says it celebrates the food, culture, colors and vibrant energy of Mexico and Latin America in its 55 stores throughout California and with its more than 8,000 team members.
