Wholly Guacamole is celebrating National Guacamole Day — Sept. 16 — with a drive-through stand for free guacamole and chips in Dallas.
Dubbed The Pit Stop, the stand at Legacy West shopping mall will be open for eight hours. Consumers who bring over- or under-ripe whole avocados to swap out with Wholly Guacamole products could win free guacamole for a year; five consumers will be chosen.
Consumers can also enter the free guacamole sweepstakes at @eatwholly on Twitter.
“Our products allow guacamole fans to enjoy the tasty goodness of real avocados without the issue of them being under- or over-ripe,” Diana Pusiri, senior brand manager, said in a news release. “The Pit Stop celebrates the convenience of Wholly Guacamole products while giving local residents a fun and socially distanced way to enjoy our favorite food on this annual holiday.”
The Pit Stop will enforce social distancing and take other steps to ensure safety, and the chips and guacamole will be sealed, tamper-proof packages.
“With roots in Texas and over 700 employees based in the Lone Star State, we are excited to share our love of guac with Dallas locals,” Jean Talley, human resources manager of MegaMex Foods, said in the release. “I have been with the company here in Saginaw (Texas) for the last 26 years and we love giving back to the community any way we can—from blood drives to food drives and toy drives. This is such a fun way to celebrate National Guacamole Day on our home turf.”
MegaMex Foods, Orange, Calif., is the parent company of the Wholly Guacamole brand.
