Oxnard, Calif.-based Bobalu Berries, now in its 60th year of farming strawberries, has launched an annual scholarship program, said Cindy Jewell, who handles marketing for the firm.

Brothers Bobby and RC Jones chose to commemorate the anniversary by giving back to the community that has long supported the family business, Jewell said.

Nine college scholarships were awarded to graduates of the Oxnard Union High School District.
